News | Abi Hughes signs for Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers Women's are delighted to welcome Abi Hughes to the 'Gas Girls'.

The 16-year-old forward is the first product of our partnership with AFC Bitton, who play in the Nationally recognised JPL Warriors League. She is also enrolling onto the Bristol Rovers Community College course this September, to continue her studies and represent 'The Gas' in the U18's setup.

The left-sided forward started playing football at Whitchurch before spending two-years at Bristol City's RTC. Hughes has also been a part of the Gloucestershire FA's ACC whilst playing a major part in the AFC Bitton boy's and girls setup. Hughes will make her senior debut with the Development Team this season and the coaching staff are delighted to have a young player with lots of potential and an excellent attitude on their books.

Hughes said, "I am delighted to have this opportunity to play for Bristol Rovers. I wanted to sign for this club because I thought it was a great opportunity to improve as a player and also be part of a great team to push for back to back promotion. I'd also like to thank everyone at AFC Bitton for all of their support over the years. I appreciate how welcoming the staff and players have been and I can't wait for the season to get rolling. Bring it on!!

Welcome to the #GasFamily Abi!
