Bristol Rovers Women's secured and emphatic 5-0 victory away to league leaders Forest Green Rovers on Sunday, and keeping the 'Gas Girls' in the race for the title.
The 'Gas Girls' were on the front foot from the first minute, providing all of the early pressure and after the 24th minute, Laura Curnock played a delicious ball for Annys Turners who fired home into the corner.
Ten minutes later, Curnock was rewarded for her efforts and slotted home a parried shot to double the 'Gas Girls' lead heading into the break.
A few minutes into the second half, Zoe Fielden-Stewart scored what will arguably be our goal of the season. A cheeky flick over the head of a FGR defender by Abi Todd, landed perfecting for ZFS to volley home our third goal of the afternoon.
Just passed the hour mark, Todd continued to provide with some intelligent footwork inside the box which she then squad into the path of ZFS to easily slot home her second of the afternoon.
Ten minutes later, Georgia Vandries found herself one-on-one with the FGR keeper and fired home our fifth of the game into the bottom corner.
A thoroughly deserved result for Bristol Rovers, keeps them in the hunt for the league title with Forest Green Rovers leading the way by two points, Sherborne Town on the same amount of points but with a game in hand and Torquay United not far behind with three games in hand.
It's set to be an enthralling end of the season!
