Bristol Brunel Lions Club President, Duncan White has taken on the challenge of walking 50 laps of a football pitch over a period of a couple of months and will be raising money for "A ball for all" and Bristol Rovers community Trust, both of whom help and support sports for the blind and visually impaired.
Bristol Brunel Lions club was formed in 1971 and is celebrating 50 years of serving various communities across Bristol. where Duncan has been with the club since it formed and is the only remaining charter member.
To celebrate 50 years members are taking on various challenges and community activities linked to the number 50. These have already included 50 bags of bulbs for local schools, care homes and the collection of coins from 50 countries for a Care Centre charity.
After much thought Duncan has decided to walk 50 laps of a football pitch, which is no mean feat. The President of the Brunel Lions Club kicked off his charity challenge at Lockleaze Sports Centre last Sunday where Bristol Rovers Women's were playing Frampton Rangers Ladies with his 50th and final lap taking place at The Memorial Stadium in 2022.
Bristol Brunel Lions are passionate in their support of both youth and sight related projects, especially those that benefit the disabled or disadvantaged. Bristol Brunel Lions wish to raise enough funds to purchase 50 lightweight mini footballs with bells inside and provide them to local children, families and schools in the Bristol area allowing for more inclusion. Funds will also be donated to the Bristol Rovers Community Trust who run a number of disability sport programmes including Blind Youth football (Click here to find out about our disability sports programmes)
