Bristol Rovers Women's announce partnership with Bitton AFC Girls'

Updated: Feb 18, 2022

Bristol Rovers Women are delighted to announce that we have partnered up with Bitton AFC Women's, to provide further opportunities for girls within our local community.

The 'Gas Girls' are hoping that this alliance will help with the development of local players, providing more opportunities to young players and assist Bitton AFC with their strategy going forward.

Bitton AFC girls were competing in the Bristol Girls League before deciding to enrol into the JPL Warriors League in 2020, to play against teams from across the Country. Despite many of the girls playing a year above their age group, Bitton have remained competitive, with a focus on player development. The Club are now starting their recruitment for a brand-new senior women's team.

Ross Simmons from Bitton AFC, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to be working with the 'Gas Girls'. At Bitton we've always been discussing ways as to how we can progress as a club and with this partnership, we can learn from what the 'Gas Girls' are doing, there's a clear pathway for young players to develop and I think that we can attract more players into the club in the future."

Bristol Rovers Women's Co-Founder and Club Secretary, Matthew Davies said "We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Bitton AFC. As a Club, it’s important that we engage with our community to provide as many footballing opportunities for women and girls as possible. Dean and Ross at Bitton AFC got in touch with us towards the end of last year and we were incredibly impressed with their passion, enthusiasm and determination to further enhance the women's game and grow their club in the right way. We're looking forward to working alongside them and watching the partnership go from strength to strength."
